5 minutes or nothing
i’m sorry, but if it takes you the time from Bathurst to University on the streetcar to do your makeup, can’t you just wake up 5 minutes earlier and save us all the trouble of watching you attempt to curl your eyelashes as the car bumps around and attempt to not smear lipstick all over your mouth?
and so as i experienced this at 7:50 am this morning with the woman sitting next to me, i offer you some advice:

1. concealer
2. powder/bronzer
3. mascara
4. lipstick/gloss/vaseline
DONE, THE END.
and if you don’t have 5 minutes, please don’t even bother.

i love MTV, and if you love it as much as i do then you also have a small place in your heart for Dan Levy and Jessi Cruickshank from the AfterShow. well folks you no longer have to tune into MTV just after the 10 spot show, because these two lovelies will be hosts on CTV Olympic Morning! Olympic Morning begins at 6am until 12pm from Feb 13th to 28th… so get ready for CTV to get a little shaken up. this time around you won’t be hearing their rants & raves about LC, Lo, Kristin and Brody, but instead they will provide us with an up-to-the-minute look at everything Olympics! hopefully Dan and Jessi will bring their A-game to support Canada during the Games!
also, follow the torch HERE, and watch Dan carry the torch at around 1:05 Van time, which is 4:05 Toronto time!

Keds X Alice & Olivia

This spring, Keds and alice + olivia are teaming up to produce a limited edition line of the iconic shoes. The collection will launch at Neiman Marcus, followed by NeimanMarcus.com, alice + olivia boutiques and aliceandolivia.com and will retail for $88.
The best part? They will be sequined.

with only 4 DAYS left until the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games it’s time to gear up if you haven’t already done so. today i purchased the HBC Red Mittens which cost only $10 and all the money supports Canadian athletes! The Bay just re-ordered 1 million pairs of mittens, totaling enough inventory to potentially allow every single Canadian to sport these mitts during the winter games!
to get you excited and informed here are some facts you can throw out during commercial breaks to impress your friends:
- Number of Olympic athletes and officials: 5,500
- Number of Paralympic athletes and officials: 1,350
- Countries participating in Olympic Winter Games: 80+
- Countries participating in Paralympic Winter Games: 40+
- 2010 Olympic Winter Games events tickets available: 1.6 million
- 2010 Paralympic Winter Games events tickets available: 250,000
- Estimated number of media representatives: 10,000
- Estimated number of Games volunteers: 25,000

Traffic, Branding, Zara, Armani, Superfreakonomics, Blink, The Tipping Point, Outliers
Guess what! February is “I love to Read Month“. As a child, your class may have kept track of all the books you read, and then if you reached a certain amount there would be a pizza party at the end of the month to celebrate your literacy successes. If only this applied in university.
Recently I have gotten into books related to my education. No fiction for this girl. Currently, I have three books on the go:

Fashion Brands: Branding Style from Armani to Zara by Mark Tungate
Superfreakonomics by Steven D. Levitt
Traffic: Why we drive the way we do by Tom Vanderbilt (Admittedly this one is not related in any way to my current education, but traffic is interesting).
Other gems I suggest you pick up:

The Tipping Point/Outliers/Blink by Malcolm Gladwell

Why we Buy: The Science of Shopping/The Call of the Mall by Paco Underhill – after reading these you will never think the same way about shopping or shopping malls again.
If you’ve got any recommendations I’m all ears, I love a good read.

song&picture of the day

Song: 1901 – Phoenix because it’s overplayed, but still gets you excited everytime.
Picture: The CobraSnake because this girl is really excited about a world map AND they always have the best parties!

spring looks please come fast
after taking an impromptu shopping trip down to Queen West today, i was mildly disappointed. actually much more than mildly. it would appear that most stores are currently stuck in some weird place between winter-sale looks and early-spring-but-still-not-too-exciting looks. which really just results in dull looking garments waiting for their better halves to arrive for Spring/Summer 2010.
of course i get home and what is in my inbox?! the Aritzia Spring/Summer ‘10 Lookbook! thank goodness for that. here are some of the best:

shopping for boys
since i’m not leaving my house this aft, because i’m doing homework, i decided to do some more online shopping. this time it’s for the boys. today we went to Urban Outfitters, and this little purchase will only cost you $398 (and i say only, because it’s much cheaper than my “J-Crew purchase”).

but honestly, if you are the slightest bit hipster head over to Urban. i’m not sure if this is weird, but i’d like to wear all these things myself, especially the boots.
enjoy!
